The shape of the implant varies from round to anatomical (tear-drop). The round implant comes in both low and high profile whilst the tear-drop implant comes in a variety of different widths, heights, projections and sizes. In general the round implant is suitable for patients who are satisfied with the shape of their breasts and only require an increase in size. The round implant also gives more upper pole fullness to the breast. The tear-drop implant can give a more natural shape. The more projected lower half of the implant can lift the nipple to a certain extent and may be more suitable in those patients with slightly droopy breasts following pregnancy, breast feeding or weight loss.
There are many different factors involved in the selection of the shape and size of implants. Dr Lim is experienced in the use of both round and tear-drop shaped implants and will assist you in making the right decision.
